Challenge

For my direction, I wanted to focus on developing a younger membership base, getting the word out about current issues while still acting as a resource for all Constitutional questions, and create a sense of urgency surrounding the ACLU’s mission.

Highlights

  • Dark colors and digital halftone in background create a slightly underground/punk feeling to appeal to younger audiences, while the clearly organized information makes the site usable for any demographic;
  • Persistent links to find a local chapter, join, act, and sign up are clearly different from normal navigation and called out, without being overbearing on the user;
  • All issues are listed out, providing users with quick access to the information they need;
  • Important Constitutional amendments of the Constitution are called out at the bottom of each page, reminding users what they’re fighting for.
